Hotel is slightly outside the old town of Salzburg but this is an advantage if arriving by car. The hotel has its own car park. Hotels in the old town appear difficult to reach by car and mostly don't have their own parking areas.
Top Tip
Salzburg is a beautiful city with many restaurants, bars, places of interest and culture, especially related to Mozart.

This is actually two hotels joined together, the Steiglbraeu and the Imlauer, with shared reception and restaurant. We were in the Imlauer, which is an excellent, friendly hotel. Very clean and newly decorated. Rooms extremely comfortable, quiet, and good air-conditioning. 15 minutes' walk to the old town--good location in the new part of town. Breakfasts were good, and the restaurant (and outside garden) seemed very popular with the locals.
Top Tip
Even if you adore Mozart, the museum at his birthplace is a dreadful rip-off and not worth the time or money. The Tourist Office will try to sell you a Salzburg pass, which isn't worth the money (most of the best sights like the cathedral and the fortress are free, and buses only cost €1,80--though you can pretty much walk everywhere). The number 2 bus stops right outside the hotel and goes out to the airport (15-20 minutes, €1,80).
