The hotel was in an excellent location for all the sights and shops in Salzburg which was its saving grace, but I was very disappointed with the standard of the hotel and the facilities for a supposedly 4* hotel. Although the hotel is a lovely old building from the outside, the room I had resembled a prison cell and was in serious need of renovation, and I have stayed in 2* hotels which were of a much higher standard than this. The night I arrived, the corridor stank of smoke although the room I was in was supposed to be non-smoking. The buffet breakfast was acceptable but again I've had better in 2* and 3* hotels in Austria. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, however the cleaning staff should learn to knock before they walk into your room in the morning! On three occasions, the cleaner just unlocked the door and wandered in without knocking which I found a bit rude! Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this hotel.
